The United Voices in Action program, implemented by IREX in Ukraine with the support of the U.S. State Department, works to strengthen the cohesion of Ukrainian communities.

As part of the program, a series of two-day ideation workshops and a series of mentoring meetings are planned for teenagers ages 14-17, which will aim to develop skills in design thinking, complex problem solving, and creative thinking. These skills will help participants create ideas for initiatives aimed at social cohesion and integration of internally displaced children into a new living environment, as well as development of project applications.

To achieve this, VIA is announcing a tender for the procurement of the services of a consultant to perform the following tasks:

  • Development of an ideas workshop program for teenagers ages 14-17 using approaches and practices of human-oriented design, gamification, and team building.
  • Development of programs for 2-3 mentoring meetings to prepare teams for pitching, presenting, and defending their projects, as well as writing project applications and budgets.
  • Conducting online trainings for coaches and mentors for the teams, who will later conduct offline workshops for the teams in target communities.
  • Close communication with the IREX team (email, online meetings).
  • Involvement in the development of a questionnaire to evaluate the effectiveness of trainings.
  • Development of handouts for training participants.
  • Preparation of presentation materials in PowerPoint format.
  • Preparation of reports in accordance with instructions provided by IREX.

Requirements for candidates:

  • Considerable experience as a developer of educational programs for children and teenagers using human-oriented design and gamification approaches, specifically in relation to planned project activities.
  • Understanding of the needs, interests, and psychological characteristics of teenagers aged 14-17.
  • Understanding of the Do No Harm approach, principles of gender equality, social inclusion concepts (working with people of different origins, ages, genders, religious beliefs, and places of residence, as well as with IDPs, people with disabilities, and others), and their application when developing materials and conducting training sessions
  • Responsibility and the ability to meet deadlines are important qualities for this job. Flexibility and adaptability in work are also valued.

Estimated timelines for workshop development is March-May 2023 and the Training of Trainers is planned for June 2023.

Documents that must be submitted for participation in the competition:

  • Summary showing hourly rate in USD.
  • List and contact details of at least three persons who can provide recommendations.
  • Diplomas and certificates (confirmation of qualifications).
  • Documents on the right to carry out entrepreneurial activities (registration documents, etc.).

The deadline for submitting resumes and other documents is March 14, 2023, and they should be sent to tender-ua@irex.org with the subject line “Consultant for Development of Ideas Workshops for Teenagers”.

The competition will take place in two stages. The first stage is an evaluation of resumes and other submitted documents. The second stage is interviews with candidates invited based on the results of the first stage, as well as the verification of recommendations.
